Shambhala Day/Losar Creating Enlightened Society

On February 28th, we celebrated Shambhala Day and Losar and welcomed the Year of the Wood Snake. This release features a video of a talk Trungpa Rinpoche gave on creating enlightened society in Boston in 1980.

Marpa and Milarepa

In celebration of the poet-yogi Jetsun Milarepa, we released three seminars on Marpa and Milarepa, two very important figures in the Kagyu lineage. Many of these talks have never been published, and the Message of Milarepa seminar was brilliantly captured on film.

Sadhana of Mahamudra

With the much-anticipated publication of The Sadhana of Mahamudra: Teachings on Devotion and Crazy Wisdom from Shambhala Publications, the Library re-released recordings of the two seminars included in the book—Embodiment of all the Siddhas (Karmê Chöling, 1975) and Sadhana of Mahamudra (Boulder, 1975)—introduced with an article by Barry Boyce.

Interviews with Chögyam Trungpa

April 4th marked the anniversary of the parinirvana, or passing, of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. In honor of his extraordinary life, the Digital Library released a collection of fascinating interviews in which Trungpa Rinpoche masterfully distills his vision, teachings, and life story for the general public.

Battle of Ego

Three seminars exploring the nature of ego. In these talks, Chögyam Trungpa presents this multifaceted topic in a creative way, through brilliant imagery, poetic storytelling, and interaction with the audience. This release is accompanied by mixed-media drawings by Emily Waters, which bring The Castle of Ego story to life.

The Mandala Principle

Four essential seminars offering an in-depth exploration of the meaning of mandala. Chögyam Trungpa was unique in presenting mandala as a principle, not just a symbolic representation of tantric teachings. Two of these seminars were later edited into Chögyam Trungpa’s influential book, Orderly Chaos: The Mandala Principle.

University of Colorado Classes

Four courses on Tibetan Buddhism that Trungpa Rinpoche taught at the University of Colorado Boulder from 1971-1974. A wide range of class topics includes foundational Buddhist teachings (such as the four noble truths, the three marks of existence, the basics of meditation, and the meaning of nirvana) and vivid descriptions of the bodhisattva path, how to transplant bodhicitta into your heart, tantric mysticism, and more.

Two seminars Trungpa Rinpoche gave on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness in 1974. These seminars are potent and accessible—a great exploration for anyone interested in mindfulness meditation.

The Lion’s Roar

Two illuminating seminars Chögyam Trungpa gave in 1973 on the nine-yana Buddhist path. A historic event, The Nine Yanas I seminar marked the first time Chögyam Trungpa presented the complete vajrayana path to his American students. Both seminars were the basis for Chögyam Trungpa’s book The Lion’s Roar: An Introduction to Tantra.
